Pressure sensitive-adhesives (PSA) can be defined as a special category of adhesive which are used for the production of a variety of materials, such as mounting tapes, labels, protective films, masking tapes, operations tape and biomedical electrodes. rnCombination of the unique properties of silicones pressure-sensitive adhesives, such as high Si–O–Si backbone flexibility, low intermolecular interactions, low surface tension, excellent thermal stability and high UV transparency, often explains why silicone PSAs have superior performance at high- and low-temperature extremes, excellent electrical properties, chemical resistance and outstanding weathering resistance. It makes they superior compared to organic PSAs.rnSelected silicone PSA composition with crossilinking agent was mixed with filler to obtain homorganic composition containing 50 wt. % polymer. Nanokaolin was add in 1, 3, 5, or 7 wt.% on a base of polymer content. Subsequently, PSA was coated (coating speed 5 cm/s, coating weight 45 g/m2) on polyester film (50 µm), dried for 10 min at 110°C in drying canal. Thus obtained adhesive films were secured with a polyester film (36 µm).rnThe presented on the poster self-adhesive tapes based on PSA with nanokaolin characteristic good mechanical properties and improve thermally resistance. The best mechanical properties showed of compositions adhesive Q2-7566 with kaolin. The highest maximum temperature work (ca. 246 ºC) obtained composition PSA 590 1,5 wt.% with 7 wt.% content of kaolin. Tape based on silicone PSA with kaolin could be used in heavy industry to combine elements operating at elevated temperature or aerospace bonding solar cells on board satellites and space stations.rn

The values of free energies and the heats of combustion and formation in condensed and aqua phases of some amino acids of different structure and some peptides of the low molecular weight were analyzed on the topics of their interactions each to other and hydrolysis decomposition. The equation of such type as Hо = i ± f (N – g), in which Hо is the heat, i and f are stoichiometric coefficients, N is the number of valence electrons, from which a number of lone electron pairs (g) is excepted for, has been made. The obtained equation were used for the calculations of a new such parameters for four amino acids in water continuum.

The calculations of strength of bonds (enthalpy) magnitudes of C-C, C-H, C-O, C=O and O-H bonds with the use of Widows-Excel-function «Search of the decision by a method gradient descent» of condensed carbohydrates of a various spatial structure (15 compounds) were made first time. The reduced magnitudes of the force of all bonds in condensed phase, comparing to gas state, designated as a strength of bond (Sb) carbohydrates, necessary to explain by the presence significant hydrogen bonds, dipole-dipole- and dispersive interactions in biochemical molecules.

Masumeh Dodel is a PhD candidate in Amirkabir University of Tehran, Iran. She has more than 7 years experience of producing polymeric nano-fibers at Stem cell Technology Research Center. She is now one of the faculty members of this research center. She is co-author of more than 10 papers in reputed journals.

In this study we have succeeded to fabricate knitted Silk nano-fibers by using Gap-Method electro-spinning. With this method we can produce scaffolds with flexible and unique mechanical properties that can be used in Reconstructive medical applications. Knitted nano-fibers are generated in two angles (600 & 900). Silk fibroin (SF) is used for production of nano-fibers. SF is obtained from CaCl2/Ethanol/cocoon solution and then followed by dialysis procedure to remove salt. Cocoons were made by the Gilan silkworms. The Mechanical properties of the produced scaffolds are measured in four directions (axis and perpendicular to the axis of two angles). Scaffold porosity calculated by measuring the density ratio and Fibroin amount of scaffold have been evaluated by FTIR method. The viscosity of SF solutions is analyzed by rotational Brookfield viscometer to evaluate its morphological properties.

Topological indices are constant of graph, used to study quantitative structure activity relationship (QSAR) and quantitative structure Properties relationship (QSPR). In addition to mathematics, graph theory is used in physics, chemistry, pharmacology, genetics, and also some other sciences. These indices are widely used to illustrate the relationship between molecular structure and physical and chemical properties. This study aims to obtain a simple model based on graph theory to predict the Ionization Energy of phenacenes with chemical formula C4n+2H2n+4. Therefore, we first calculated the Reciprocal Randi´c Index for the family. Reciprocal Randi´c index, RR (G) is defined by RR (G)= The Ionization Energy of phenacenes was calculated using Gaussian 09 software and the experimental data of references were compared with those mentioned in valid papers. The prediction of Ionization Energy about a very high accuracy through reciprocal Randi´c index, with R2=0.9873. The prediction is given by: .

Manufacturing the nanoscale components has faced some limitations, which is virtually impossible in many cases. Acenes are organic molecules that have received considerable attention in molecular electronics and nanoscale. Due to the important electronic properties of the family, many studies have been conducted on them. A molecular graph is a simple graph whose vertex is mainly made up of atoms in a molecule and the bonds between atoms are the graph edges. In chemical graphs, hydrogen atoms were removed and excluded. Moreover, the degree of each vertex is a maximum of 4 and all bonds between atoms are considered as single. Topological indices are defined based on graph theory. The first Zagreb index is one of the topological indices, which is defined as follows rnWhere u is a member of the graph vertices and d is its degree. The Electron Affinity Energy was calculated using Gaussian 09 software and the experimental data of references were compared with those mentioned in valid papers. Parisa Shadabipour obtained her BS in Pure Chemistry from Isfahan University of Technology in 2009 and her MS in Analytical Chemistry from Shiraz University in 2012. Her research interests are chemometrics, nanotechnology and environmental chemistry. So far, she published two papers including modeling of organic reactions by spectrophotometric and chemometrics methods and light-free degradation of synthetic dyes by starch-coated CdSe quantum dots. Her proposal titled as “Application of magnetic nanoparticles and quantum dots in elimination of environmental pollutants and investigating the mechanism of the reactions by chemometrics methods” is supported by Iran National Science Foundation (INSF).

Decomposition of synthetic organic dyes induced by photogenerated carries in semiconductors is a highly evolved environmental enterprise. In the present study, starch-coated CdSe quantum dots (average particles size of about 3.1 nm) was synthesized and utilized as a photocatalyst for degradation of two triphenylmethane dyes, including Methyl Green (MG) and Malachite Green (MaG) in ambient condition. Very low quantities of photocatalyst found to be capable of significantly decolorizing large amount of MG (ratio of MG to photocatalyst 1000:1) within a few minutes in neutral pH. Increasing pH and amount of photocatalyst significantly boosted degradation kinetics. The calculated kinetic constants showed pseudo-first order kinetics for photocatalytic degradation of MG. As an alternative to sophisticated techniques such as HPLC-MS and GC-MS that has been commonly used to provide mechanistic studies for photocatalytic degradation process, we herein coupled simple UV/Vis spectroscopy with multivariate curve resolution-alternative least-squares (MCR-ALS) to present a new paradigm in employing MCR-ALS technique for studying reaction kinetics. The absorption spectrum of MG in the course of the degradation reaction was monitored in several pH. Five chemical factors (components) were detected using factor analysis (FA) and concentration profiles and pure spectra of detected components were resolved using MCR-ALS. The obtained results suggested three groups of species including two reactants, one intermediate and two products.

In this study, we designed and synthesized a self-assembled DNA complex that sense six lung cancer microRNA markers and produce a fluorescent output corresponding to the operation of an AND gate. Logic gates are devices that perform logical operations by transforming a set of inputs into a predictable single detectable output. To perform the logic gate, we have placed two fluorophores at the DNA origami with an optimum inter-distance of ~2 nm. We used FRET method to demonstrate the activity of our constructed DNA origami, where a high FRET efficiency at the initial state of the origami demonstrated the origami being in closed state. Addition of the microRNA mimics (DNA strands with identical genetic information of the lung cancer microRNAs), leads to strand displacement of the DNA locks. As a result, DNA origami conformation switches to open state and thus the examined FRET efficiency change drastically. An example of experimental results of FRET experiments is shown below. Integrating logic gates with DNA origami systems opens a vast avenue to many applications in the fields of nano-medicine, bio-computing and bioelectronics.

Zhypargul Abdullaeva has completed PhD from Kumamoto University. She is the Assistant Professor in Department of Materials Science and Engineering of Kumamoto University. She has published several papers on synthesis of nanomaterials by pulsed plasma in liquid method. Her current interest is aimed to synthesize graphene sheets and their functionalization for biomedical applications.

Synthesis of carbon-coated metal, carbide and sulfide nanomaterials is challenging area in materials science and engineering. Magnetism, biocompatibility and high temperature stability of carbon-coated metal, carbide and sulfide nano-materials enable to use them in different applications. In our work, we present synthesis of onion-like carbon-coated metal (Co-C, Ni-C, and Fe-C), carbide (WC1-x@C and TiC@C) and sulfide (CuS) nanomaterials by using pulsed plasma in liquid method (PPL). Pulsed plasma in liquid is simple and inexpensive technique for nano-materials synthesis. Syntheses of onion-like carbon-coated metal (Co-C, Ni-C, and Fe-C), carbide (WC1-x@C and TiC@C) and sulfide (CuS) nanomaterials were carried out by using low electrical energy, no vacuum and pressure, without any additives. Properties of these nanomaterials were studied by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). For detecting the biocompatibility of as-synthesized onion-like carbon-coated metal (Co-C, Ni-C, and Fe-C) and sulfide (CuS) nanomaterials, we have performed in vitro cytotoxicity analyses, using the A549 cell line (Human lung adenocarcinoma epithelial cells) and MCF-7 (breast cancer) cells. Carbon-coated magnetic nanoparticles of Co, Ni, and Fe synthesized by PPL method showed low cytotoxic effects on the cancer cells. As a part of investigation, different cancer cell lines and two types of assays (MTT and XTT) were used for cytotoxicity measurements. Results obtained in this study are making possible to apply onion-like carbon-encapsulated Co, Ni, and Fe magnetic nanoparticles in vivo cancer treatment applications.\r\n

Jagoda Kowalska earned her MA in 2012 at West Pomeranian University of Technology Szczecin and then began a PhD on \"Shrinkage of photoreactive acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives\".

The term pressure-sensitive describes adhesives, which in the dry form are aggressively and permanently tacky at room temperature and firmly adhere to a variety of dissimilar surfaces upon mere contact, without the need of more than finger or hand pressure. Since their introductions half a century ago, acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives have been successfully applied in many fields. They are used in self - adhesives tapes, labels, protective and sign and marking films as well as in medical applications as dermal dosage systems for pharmaceutical and in biomedical electrodes. Their functional characteristics like instantaneous adhesiveness, repeated adhesiveness, tackiness, etc. as their ease of adhesive work, leads to the fact that applications are spreading in various directions. Together with the expanding applications of PSA, the capabilities required for PSA also are widening, and various types of PSA as solvent-borne, water-borne and solvent-free PSA have been developed.\r\nPressure-sensitive adhesives possess adhesion, required for bonding and debonding, and cohesion necessary against debonding. Adhesion is characterized by tack and peel adhesion, whereas cohesion is described by shear resistance, and partially by peel. The special balance of these properties, the adhesion/cohesion balance, embodies the pressure-sensitive character of the adhesives. The mechanical properties of pressure-sensitive adhesives are usually described by tack, shear resistance and peel strength. \r\n

In biomedicine gold nano-particles (GNPs) use widely for diagnostic, the directed transport of drugs, for optical visualization of cellular structures. The possibility of penetration of nanoparticles through animal\'s blood-tissue barriers remains poorly studied. The aim of this study was the morphological features of the permeability through some blood-tissue barriers by using the parenteral injection of GNPs. PEGylated 5-150-nm GNPs, suspended in saline solution was injected in tail venous of male and pregnant female rats at a volume about 0.7 ml, 100 mkg Au per kg body weight. GNPs were visualized by the auto metallography and the total Au content in tissues was evaluated by the atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). We studied permeability of the placental barrier, of blood-brain barrier (BBB), of blood–testis barrier (BTB) and of blood-retinal barrier (BRB) of animals. AAS showed that 5-, 10-, 30- and 50-nm GNPs penetrate through the rat placental barrier. GNPs were found in macrophages of fetal liver and spleen. In tissues of the organs of examined fetuses no significant morphological changes were observed.150-nm GNPs don\'t penetrate through the rat placental barrier, but 5-nm GNPs penetrate through the blood-brain barrier. BTB and BRB barriers are impermeable for GNPs of all these diameters. Also we demonstrated presence other morphological features for the size-dependence permeability of GNPs through animal blood-tissues barriers by use of parenteral injection. Authors suggest that these results can be used to develop new types of drugs (in high technological nano-pharmacology) with selective permeability through animal tissue barriers, especially in prenatal fetal therapy.
